Back Pony Puff and Front Twist Out

Have you been experimenting lately with your hair? I definitely have, especially with the recent changes in weather. I had to change up my style from flat ironing and pressing my hair because my hair was not going to hold up with all the heat. Lately, I have been wearing what I call a "Back Pony Puff and Front Twist Out." This style took me approximately 1-2 hours to complete. Follow the steps below and you can have the same pony puff and twists.

Steps
*Co wash your hair with Miss Jessie's
*Wash out
*Place towel on your shoulders and let hair drip
*Immediately place leave-in-condition in hair (As I Am)
*Brush hair with brush that has small balls on the ends of it
*Place Kinky Curly Curling Custard in your hair
*Brush hair with brush that has small balls on the ends of it while pulling it into a pony puff
*After hair is in a pony puff, brush hair toward pony puff using a brush with small bristles

Enjoy your new style!

Confessions of a Natural Hair Enthusiast

I must confess...
I am a Natural Hair Enthusiast. A long time ago, I too thought my hair was unmanageable. Well, that was until I learned all about my hair. In order to learn about my hair, I had to experiment. To be perfectly honest, I am still experimenting on my hair. These experiments include: Going to the Whole Foods Market, purchasing organic products, using new products, and practicing what I see on YouTube.

In the past, I use to press out my hair, go out, and unintentionally come back home with a puff on my head. It was like all my hard work and effort went kaput. How dare my hair shrivel up as if I had not even touched it. How dare it not consult with me to see if that was what I wanted it to do. Well natural girls, that is something we have to risk when we go natural. Right? We have to risk our hair doing something not expected so we can perfect our hair styling techniques.

Today I am living my life shrivel-up-free. No more pressing my hair and fearing that my hair will shrivel up. I have learned the tricks of the trade to wear "Curls of Pearl." Just see above.

Want to know more about these techniques or for me to answer your questions about being natural? Just reply to this post and I will help you with what I know.

Natural Curls of Pearl

This is how I am wearing my naturally curly hair.

Natural Curls of Pearl Hairdo

Step 1: Condition
You should always want to condition your hair prior to washing it. This allows the water and conditioner to soak into your hair and provide a better wash. My hair always tends to turn out a little better when I have let my hair products soak into my hair.

Step 2: Wash
After you have rinsed out your conditioner, washing your hair cleans away prior products you have placed in your hair. It leaves your scalp and hair feeling good.

Step 3: Condition again
Conditioning your hair again allows the water and conditioner to soak into your hair some more. This is a great technique for those who want to straightened out their hair. The second application makes the scalp and hair much more manageable and able to sustain being taken out of its original condition.

Step 4: Moisturize
Moisturizing your hair after you have washed it is a must. The best time to moisturize hair is while it is still wet.

Step 5: Air Dry
Air drying your hair gives you the fullness that some people desire. Whenever I air dry my hair, I do it at night and place it in four ponytails. This allows my hair to dry while I am sleeping. Of course my hair is never completely dry when I wake up, so this makes way for the next step.

Step 6: Blow Dry
In the morning, take your hair out of the ponytails, section by section. This technique allows you to concentrate on certain areas of your hair that may need more attention or heat.

Step 7: Straightened
After your hair is dry, straightened in with a flat iron. I would suggest managing the straight look for a couple of days to allow your hair to get use to fact of being straight. No matter how many times you wash and straighten your hair, your hair seems like it becomes more manageable after a couple of days.

Step 9: Create Natural Curls of Pearl
A mix of flexi rods and rollers will assist with creating the look above. Using a natural hair oil can assist with bring a certain type of shine to your hair when the rollers and flexi rods are taken out.

Step 10: Enjoy
Enjoy your hair style by taking pictures, sharing your experience, and just living it up. Why not? You deserve to look beautiful and show the world your Natural Curls of Pearl.
